Introduction to Comparative Politics
I have been a teaching assistant for Introduction to Comparative Politics for one year (two semesters). My responsibilities included teaching two recitation sections a week with a total of 60 students. I was also responsible for grading exams and assignments, providing constructive feedback, and holding weekly office hours. Comparative Politics is neither my primary nor secondary field, and I appreciated the opportunity to display my teaching proficiencies outside of my main area of focus.
My teaching philosophy
I believe in taking a constructive and compassionate approach to teaching. I believe in holding students accountable for submitting work to the best of their ability, and that it is my job as their instructor to give them the tools and support to succeed.
I provide detailed, substantive feedback to students, and ensure ample opportunity to meet with me to discuss class concerns and improvement. My classes are centered on large and small group discussion and activities, with a focus on practical activities and discussions that encourage critical thinking and media literacy.
I am passionate about supporting students and their well-being and embrace students from all different circumstances and experiences. I regularly attend teaching workshops and trainings to gather and improve my tools to support their success.
